the listening & enquiry circle

the listening & enquiry circle

Awakening and inner inquiry can open us to greater sensitivity, depth, and awareness, but they can also leave us feeling exposed, ungrounded, or alone. Many people discover that while profound things are happening internally, there are few spaces where these experiences can be shared and gently held by others.
This group is designed to be such a space.
It is a small, facilitated, in-person listening and inquiry circle where participants are supported through mindful presence, shared humanity, and respectful listening, rather than advice, interpretation, or instruction.

A Space of Support, Presence, and Allowing

Support in this group does not take the form of guidance or solutions. Instead, it arises through:

  • Being listened to without interruption
  • Having one’s experience received without judgement
  • Sitting together with what is present, without trying to change it

Over time, many participants find that this quality of shared presence fosters:

  • A sense of safety and belonging
  • Increased self-trust
  • Relief from the feeling of needing to “figure it out” alone

Non-Hierarchy and Acceptance

This group is held without hierarchy.
There are no teachers and no students.
No one’s experience is treated as more evolved, correct, or meaningful than another’s.
All experiences, ordinary or profound, are welcomed as valid.
The container is actively held to discourage comparison, self-evaluation, and the feeling of not being “far enough along.”

Each session follows a consistent, supportive rhythm:

Opening Guided Meditation or Contemplation

A short meditation to help participants arrive in their bodies and settle into shared presence, often gently oriented toward the session’s theme.

Personal Check-In Round

Each participant has a few minutes to share what has been present for them.
There are no interruptions and no responses—only listening.

Topic-Based Shared Inquiry

A simple human theme is introduced (without explanation or teaching).
Participants explore how this theme shows up in their lived experience, speaking from “I,” and listening with care.
This is not a discussion or debate.
It is a collective practice of presence and reflection.

Optional Reflection Round

Participants may briefly share what the session evoked internally, without commenting on others’ shares.

Closing

A gentle closing to support integration and completion.
Participants are always welcome to pass at any point.

Example Topics

Themes are chosen to support grounded, human exploration rather than abstract spirituality. Examples include:

  • Joy & Belonging
  • Suffering
  • Fear & Safety
  • Not Knowing
  • Groundedness and Embodiment
  • Meaning and Meaninglessness

Facilitation and Safety

The facilitator’s role is to hold the structure and tone of the group so that participants can relax into the process.
This includes:
Maintaining clear boundaries
Supporting equal participation
Gently intervening if advice-giving or hierarchy arises

The structure exists to support a felt sense of safety and being held.
