the listening & enquiry circle

the listening & enquiry circle

Spiritual awakening and inner enquiry can open us to greater sensitivity, depth, and awareness, but they can also leave us feeling exposed, ungrounded, or alone. Many people discover that while profound things are happening internally, there are few spaces where these experiences can be shared and gently held by others.
This group is designed to be such a space.
It is a small, facilitated, online listening and enquiry circle where participants are supported through mindful presence, shared humanity, and respectful listening, rather than advice, interpretation, or instruction.

VENUE: ONLINE (zoom)

DATES: SATURDAYS 2:30-4pm

MAY 9th, 23rd. JUNE 6th, 20th, JULY 4th, 18th.

A Space of Support, Presence, and Allowing

Support in this group does not take the form of guidance or solutions. Instead, it arises through:

  • Being listened to without interruption
  • Having one’s experience received without judgement
  • Sitting together with what is present, without trying to change it

Over time, many participants find that this quality of shared presence fosters:

  • A sense of safety and belonging
  • Increased self-trust
  • Relief from the feeling of needing to “figure it out” alone

Non-Hierarchy and Acceptance

This group is held without hierarchy.
There are no teachers and no students.
No one’s experience is treated as more evolved, correct, or meaningful than another’s.
All experiences, ordinary or profound, are welcomed as valid.
The container is actively held to discourage comparison, self-evaluation, and the feeling of not being “far enough along.”

Each session follows a consistent, supportive rhythm:

Opening 5 minute silent Meditation

A short silent meditation to help participants arrive in their bodies and settle into shared presence.

Personal Check-In Round

Each participant has a few minutes to share what has been present for them.
There are no interruptions and no verbal responses—only listening.

Topic-Based Shared Enquiry

A simple human theme is introduced with a guided meditation or contemplation (without explanation or teaching).
Participants explore within themselves how this theme shows up in their lived experience, speaking from “I,” and also listening with care.
This is not a discussion or debate.
It is a collective practice of presence and reflection.

Optional Reflection Round

Participants may briefly share what the session evoked internally, without commenting on others’ shares.

Closing

A gentle closing to support integration and completion.
Participants are always welcome to pass at any point.

inner enquiry

In this group, enquiry refers to a gentle turning toward one’s own lived experience with curiosity, honesty, and care.
It is not a formal spiritual technique and it does not involve asking a single question such as “Who am I?” or trying to arrive at a particular insight. Rather, it is an invitation to notice what is actually present…physically, emotionally, and psychologically, without trying to fix, transcend, or explain it away.
Enquiry here is simple, grounded, and human.

For many people, awakening does not unfold as a single moment of clarity, but as an ongoing process that can include openness, confusion, relief, grief, joy, fear, and periods of not knowing.

This kind of enquiry can be supportive because it:

  • encourages honest contact with experience, rather than bypassing or suppressing it
  • helps reduce identification with stories about what is happening, by returning attention to what is actually felt
  • supports integration, allowing insights to be lived rather than merely understood
  • fosters self-trust by validating one’s own direct experience

When enquiry is supported by mindful listening and acceptance, people often find that what feels overwhelming or isolating becomes more workable and less lonely.

Although enquiry is often described as an inward process, in this group it is also relational.

Speaking from experience while being listened to without interruption, advice, or interpretation can deepen awareness in unexpected ways. Many people notice that simply hearing themselves speak in a supportive space allows clarity to emerge naturally, without effort.

Others support the enquiry not by responding, but by offering presence.

In this way, enquiry unfolds within a shared field of attention and care.

There is no expectation that enquiry will lead to a particular state, understanding, or resolution.

Some sessions may feel clear or spacious.
Others may feel tender, uncertain, or unresolved.

All of this is part of the process.

Enquiry here is not about progress or attainment, but about meeting experience honestly and allowing it to move at its own pace.

During awakening, people often feel pressure…internal or external, to interpret what is happening or to reach a conclusion about it.
This group offers an alternative: a space where experience does not need to be explained or resolved in order to be held.
Over time, this can support greater steadiness, integration, and ease within the unfolding process.

Learn more about your facilitator…

Emma’s work is rooted in a deep respect for the body, the nervous system, and the quiet intelligence that emerges when we are given the space to slow down and listen.

Her approach has been shaped by many years of contemplative practice, spiritual guidance from her teachers, professional work within the mental health sector, and her own lived experience of moving through periods of overwhelm and disorientation toward greater steadiness and presence within the awakening process.

She teaches mindful embodiment through meditation, sound, stillness, gentle enquiry, and nervous system–informed practices. Rather than offering solutions or interpretations, Emma focuses on creating calm, supportive spaces where people can explore their own experience with honesty and care.

Her role in the Listening & Enquiry Circle is simply to hold the structure of the space so that participants can speak, listen, and explore their experience in a way that feels safe, grounded, and unforced.

‘Settle enough to stop seeking. Rest enough to stop fixing. Feel safe enough to be nothing in particular.’

closing invitation…

If this description resonates with something in you, you are warmly invited to apply.
Because the group is intentionally small and carefully held, participation begins with a short reflective application. Rather than being something that is reviewed or assessed, this process is offered as an opportunity for you to sit quietly with a set of questions and sense your own readiness for this kind of space.
The application concludes with a simple declaration of willingness to uphold the structure and agreements of the group to the best of your ability.
If it feels like the right time to explore your experience in the presence of others, you are welcome to take the next step.
