the listening & enquiry circle self reflection

A Quiet Reflection Before Joining the Listening & Enquiry Circle

This reflection is offered as an invitation to pause and sense your own readiness for this kind of group.
There are no right or wrong answers, and nothing here is assessed or judged. You are not required to share anything deeply personal. The purpose is simply to help you listen inwardly and decide whether this space feels aligned for you at this time.
You may wish to read each question slowly and notice not only your thoughts, but also how your body responds.

1. What draws me to this group at this moment in my life?

You might notice….

  • whether this feels like curiosity, need, resonance, or something else,
  • whether the pull feels calm or urgent,
  • whether you are seeking support, clarity, companionship, or simply space.

There is no need to analyse, just notice what feels true.

2. How do I feel about being in a space where advice, guidance, and interpretation are not offered?

You might reflect on….

  • whether this feels relieving, challenging, unfamiliar, or uncomfortable,
  • whether you tend to look for guidance from others,
  • how it feels to imagine being listened to without response.

This group is supported through listening and presence rather than fixing or teaching.

3. How comfortable am I with listening quietly to others without responding, advising, or sharing my own insights?

You might notice….

  • any impulses to help, explain, or reassure,
  • whether you can allow others’ experiences to be their own.
  • how you experience silence,

4. How do I relate to the idea of a non-hierarchical space?

In this group:

  • there are no teachers and no students,
  • no one is considered further along than anyone else,
  • experiences are not compared or evaluated.

You might reflect on…

  • whether this feels settling or unsettling,
  • whether you notice comparison tendencies in yourself,
  • how you respond when there is no external authority.

6. Is there anything in me that feels hesitant, unsure, or resistant about joining this group?

All responses are welcome here, including uncertainty.

Sometimes hesitation carries important information.

You may wish to notice…

  • whether the timing feels right,
  • whether the structure feels supportive,
  • or whether another kind of space might be more appropriate right now.

5. How do I experience speaking from direct, lived experience rather than ideas or explanations?

This group invites sharing from…

  • what is felt in the body,
  • emotions or inner responses,
  • uncertainty or not knowing.

You might notice…

  • whether this feels natural or unfamiliar,
  • whether you tend to move quickly into concepts or meaning,
  • how it feels to speak without needing to make sense.

Declaration of Participation

After sitting with the reflections above, you are invited to read and agree to the following:
I understand the orientation and structure of the Listening & Enquiry Circle.
I am willing to participate in a way that honours the group agreements, including listening without advising, speaking from my own experience, and respecting the non-hierarchical nature of the space, to the best of my ability.

You are encouraged to trust your own sense of readiness.
If this space feels supportive and aligned, you are welcome to join.
If it does not, that is equally respected.
